The Prefecture of the Northern Aegean Islands in cooperation with the European Strategic Planning Organization present a celebration of  Cultural Gastronomy titled «Treats of Greece Festival» to be held at the Neo-classical Porfiarada School in New Karlovasi Samos from 2/7-5/7/2015 (18:00-24:00).

The coordinators envision turning this into an annual event, rotating between different communities within the Prefecture.

This initiative, taken under difficult economic circumstances, strives to achieve recognition for the islands of Samos and Ikaria as sustainable holiday destinations. It is part of a broader plan to attract an increasing number of visitors to the islands of the Samos Prefecture, to support and build the economy by exhibiting local products, crafts and emphasize on the traditions, rich local history and attractive environment the islands’ offer.

 The Festival program includes:

1.       Exhibits of local restaurants, cafes, pastry shops, fruit and vegetable shops, delicatessens, fast food outlets, hotels, book shops, and many artisan and cultural groups.

2.      Gastronomy Demonstrations, featuring professional chefs from different Prefectures but also many representing other countries will join our own local chefs to combine their skills in preparing spectacular dishes using local ingredients.

3.      Other cultural attractions include music, dancing, literature, pottery demonstrations, photography, theatre and special workshops.

This festival aims to project local identity, one that interconnects agriculture and tourism.  For the very first time, all 13 Prefectures of Greece will participate in unison to help promote Samian culture. In addition to the 13 Greek Prefectures, the Festival will welcome participants from other countries of the world that will display their culinary creativity using Samian and Ikarian products.

The event is a collaboration of local authorities, cultural groups, local businesses, artisans, chefs and cooks combining their skills to fuse the tastes, fragrances, sounds and traditions of the islands.

Special attractions scheduled for younger visitors.

Everyone is invited!!! We’ll be waiting for you at the ANEMA Samos hotel kiosk.
